The Office of International Programs (OIP) at The University of Texas-Pan American is hosting two teachers from Korea, Youngsu Kim and Paul Shin, who are participating in the Fulbright American Studies Institute for Korean Secondary School Teachers of English. The teachers, who arrived Jan. 29, will be here through Feb. 10.

OIP has assisted in placing the teachers in a local school district to experience and observe teaching methods in American settings. The visiting teachers will give presentations at the school sharing their culture and traditions with students and teachers. As an essential component of their training in the United States, both teachers will live with a host family to experience the American lifestyle.

A group of 11 German students from one of UTPA's partner institutions in Germany - University of Luneburg - are also spending time in the Rio Grande Valley Feb. 26-March 4. Also hosted by OIP, the students will be participating in a short term exchange program at the University and be involved in academic presentations and activities throughout their stay. Exchange program goals include providing the opportunity for the students to experience the people and life of the host university and the community as well as for UTPA students to have a similar experience when studying abroad in Germany.
