Retired biology professor and former Bronc athlete both honored during UTPA basketball game

Antonio de la Peña, former biology professor and faculty athletic representative for five years at The University of Texas-Pan American, and Jim Board, former UTPA basketball player on the 1963 NAIA championship team, were honored at the basketball game between UTPA Broncs and Texas State University Dec.15, 2005. During the game, UTPA President Dr. Blandina Cárdenas presented De la Peña who recently retired from UTPA with a plaque; Cárdenas also presented a plaque to Board, who raised $60,000 for the Sam Williams Endowed Scholarship during the Las Vegas Extravaganza fund-raiser. Sam Williams coached the 1963 Bronc championship team.
