Students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at The University of Texas-Pan American offered free health care services for colonia residents in Lopezville at their annual Community Health Fair held at Palacios Park in San Juan, Oct. 15. Some of the services given to the residents, under the supervision of the BSN faculty at UTPA, were flu shots, immunizations, breast exams, vision and hearing screenings and blood sugar and cholesterol checks. The students also displayed projects to educate the community on diabetes, nutrition and domestic violence prevention. Rabies vaccinations were also provided to pets of local residents.
