The University Gallery at The University of Texas-Pan American announces the opening of the "The Telling Moments" M.F.A. exhibit featuring the works of Rio Grande Valley artist Anna Marie Salinas. The exhibit will run through Oct. 14 in the University Gallery.

Salinas' works describe the social behavior and facial expressions of the daily lives of the Mexican-American folk in the Rio Grande Valley. Her artwork is featured in a Lone Star National Bank commercial shown locally.

She won "Best in Show" for her work - "Pain of Death" - in the Realism 2003 II art exhibition at The Stage Gallery in Merrick, N.Y. Salinas was also chosen from thousands of women's submission to the Seventh International Open Art Exhibition in 2003 at Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, Ill.

The University Gallery, located on the UTPA campus at 1201 West University Drive in Edinburg, is hosting an opening reception Thursday, Sept. 15, 7-9 p.m. at the University Gallery. Everyone is invited to come and meet the artist Anna Marie Salinas.
