The Boeing Company presents $50,000 check to UTPA

On Feb. 25, engineering senior design students at The University of Texas-Pan American gathered to help receive a $50,000 check from The Boeing Company to support the Boeing Scholars Program at the University. Also participating in the check presentation were from left to right Dr. Miguel Gonzalez, interim dean and director for the School of Engineering; Arturo Rosales, director, Americas Programs, Boeing Satellite Systems; Dr. Edwin LeMaster, interim dean for the College of Science and Engineering; Brett Mann, executive director of the Office of Center Operations and Community Services (CoSERVE); Sylvia Saenz Aldape, associate executive director of CoSERVE; and Gilbert Maldonado, director of UTPA Foundation and Corporate Relations. These funds help provide scholarships for UTPA engineering and computer science majors. Boeing also provides support for other programs in the College of Science and Engineering including student competition teams for Mini Baja vehicles and robotics as well as Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology (HESTEC) Week events.
