A gala, which is held every year to raise money for young female athletes, is scheduled for October 30 at 7 p.m. at the Shary Shivers Estate, 3.5 Miles North Shary Road in Mission. It will include live music, dancing, a casino, a live and silent auction, blackboard auction, hors d' oeuvres and much more. Tickets are $50 per person.

SAM'S CLUB, part of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., was able to contribute to the Gala through the Volunteerism Always Pays program (VAP), which gives grants to local organizations when a store associate volunteers their time to that particular organization.

Wal-Mart associates volunteered more than $1 million hours of their time to their favorite charities last year. As a result, millions of dollars in VAP grants were donated to local organizations nationwide.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. operates Wal-Mart Stores, Supercenters, Neighborhood Markets and SAM'S CLUBS in all 50 states. It has contributed more than $160 million to support communities and local non-profit organizations.
