UTPA Alumni Association hosts Pan Am Golf Classic April 23

Planning is underway for the 15th annual Pan American Golf Classic to benefit scholarships for deserving students at The University of Texas-Pan American. The Pan Am Classic, this year hosted by the UTPA Alumni Association, will be held Friday, April 23 at the Tierra Santa Golf Course in Weslaco. Golfers can participate in three different flight levels for $6,000 in cash prizes in the two-man, low ball tournament. A hole-in-one opportunity for an automobile will also be a highlight at the event. Golf Classic Committee members pictured front left to right are UTPA staff members Christy Cantu, Debby Grant, Marisela Leal and Yvette Padilla. Chair of the Golf Classic and President of the UTPA Alumni Association Board is local attorney R.D. "Bobby" Guerra. Among the sponsors signed on so far are Texas State Bank, H-E-B, KRGV-TV Channel 5, McAllen Carpet and Interiors, Valley Coca Cola and COSTEP.
