UTPA hosts Global Week, Nov. 17-20

The Center for International Studies at The University of Texas-Pan American will host Global Week, Nov. 17-20.

The conference, "The Global Political, Social and Economical Outlook in the 21st Century," will feature guest speakers from across the country and Mexico.

Topics to be discussed include "The Global Future in Marketing, Education and Health," "U.S.-Arab Relations," "The Indigenous People of Mexico," "Mexico, NAFTA and Maquiladoras," "Women in Mexico: 50th Anniversary of Women Suffrage" and "U.S. Latino-Israeli Relations."

A Provost Global Excellence Awards ceremony will be held in honor of faculty Wednesday, Nov. 19 at noon the University Ballroom.

During the week, the conference will also feature various cultural events throughout the evenings. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about Chinese wedding banquets, women in India and dances from the Middle East.
