Endowed scholarship donors and student recipients were honored during an annual luncheon, Thursday, Nov. 13 at The University of Texas-Pan American.

UTPA Student Erika Beatriz Garcia thanks donors for their contributions during a luncheon.

Administrators and donors had the opportunity to meet some of the students who have been able to continue their education through scholarship funding.

"Our student population has increased dramatically in the past years. We now have 450 endowed scholarship recipients," said Candi Roxas, executive director of the UTPA Development Office. "As an endowment donor, your gift will benefit students for many years to come."

Erika Beatriz Garcia, a UTPA premedical student and scholarship recipient, was given the opportunity to thank donors for their generous contributions.

"The many programs that you sponsor give countless students the opportunity to gain financial and academic aid," Garcia said. "Because of your gracious contributions to this prosperous University, a degree from UT Pan American is more than affordable, and for that, I am very grateful."

The endowment luncheon was sponsored by the UTPA Foundation and featured the UTPA Vocal Quartet.
