The University of Texas-Pan American will host "Research Day: Current Issues in Research," Saturday, Nov. 8 at the UTPA Ballroom.
During the event, participants will learn about various objectives including adverse effects of partner violence on women's health, research on partner violence assessment and intervention and sexual abuse of children.
Dr. Yolanda R. Davila, who has extensive research, educational and publishing experience in the areas of Intimate Partner Violence in Mexican American women and HIV/AIDS prevention will be among the guest speakers. Also speaking is Janie Cantú-Cabrera, who is one of the five registered nurses contracted by the Office of the Attorney General to teach RN's throughout the State of Texas about sexual assault nurse examinations.
Research Day is being sponsored by UTPA Pi Omicron Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Valley Advanced Practice Nurses' Association, District 26 Texas Nurses' Association, UTPA Nursing Department, UTPA Student Nurses Organization and McAllen Medical Center.
