The Office of Special Programs at The University of Texas-Pan American has officially changed its name to the Department of College Access and Support Programs.

"The name change is a result of our efforts to clarify what this department does," said Felipe Salinas, department director. "We hope that we can continue to increase the access to higher education for prospective students."

The department is made up of seven offices: College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), Educational Talent Search (ETS), High School Equivalency Program (HEP), Mother-Daughter Program, Texas Prefreshman Engineering Program (TexPREP), Upward Bound and the Upward Bound Math and Science Program.

The office serves a select population of students traditionally underrepresented in higher education, and promotes the completion of secondary education, facilitates the acquisition of skills for academic success, and provides post-secondary education access and transition services.
