The University of Texas-Pan American Division of Business Affairs would like to assist faculty and staff members with questions, problems or suggestions related to the University's business services through a special hotline at 381-2724.

Elia López, director of accounting, is available to assist faculty and staff with questions related to the University's business services through a special hotline.
"The hotline is a quick fix for any problems out there, " said James Langabeer, vice president for Business Affairs. "No question has ever gone unanswered. Elia answers the question as quickly as possible or advises the caller on who to call to get the answer from."

The Business Affairs Hotline was initiated in fall 1994 to resolve problems and concerns involving transactions within the Division of Business Affairs.

Karla Barragan, accountant, assists López in fielding phone calls that come through the hotline.
Elia López, director of Accounting and hotline representative, said during the past few months, she has fielded numerous calls - including questions on how to get account balances, errors on accounts, clearing encumbrances, tracking budget changes and how to access the VAX.

López said both her and Karla Barragan, an accountant in Accounts Control, try and address the questions as quickly as possible.

"If the question is best addressed by another business affairs department, callers are either referred to that office accordingly; or at their preference, we will obtain a response from that department on their behalf," López said.

The hotline is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Callers may leave voice messages after hours, and a response will be provided the next business day.
