Competition for new University logo open to all

A logo competition has been announced by The University of Texas-Pan American to design a look that will brand the University in its continued growth.

The competition is open to anyone, but designers must register their intentions to submit a logo by Friday, May 9 to Jesus de la Rosa, publications production supervisor at the Office of University Relations at 956/381-2741 or at

The deadline to submit completed designs is Friday, May 16.

Prizes of $500, $300 and $200 will be awarded to the top three designers, respectively.

"The prizes are a token of appreciation that will also be accompanied by a special reception and certificate to honor the winners," said Julia Benitez Sullivan, director of the Office of University Relations at UTPA.

The new logo will replace the special 75th anniversary logo currently in use and the former sunburst logo used prior to September 2002.
