Awards presented at UTPA "Digital 2003" art show at Edinburg Chamber of Commerce

Shown with her "Best in Show" entry in the May 7 opening of "Digital 2003" art exhibition at the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce is Juanita Cavazos, a senior majoring in art at The University of Texas-Pan American. Cavazos' entry, a 3-D architectural mock-up of a fountain and landscaping she designed to enhance a specific site adjacent to the UTPA Fine Arts Complex, also won first place in mixed media. The prize for best work in all categories of computer art was given to Jeanette Smith, a senior graphic design student at UTPA. Awards were presented in over 10 categories including poster, packaging, billboard, storyboard and webpage design; digital illustration, photography and typography; flash animation; corporate identity; and black and white photography. The exhibition, featuring works by UTPA graphic design and art students, will be shown until May 21 at the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce.
