The University of Texas-Pan American honored Work-Study students during the annual UTPA Work-Study of the Year Awards luncheon Thursday, April 17 at the University Ballroom. During the event - presented by the UTPA Student Financial Services Office - Maria G. Duque, University Library, was named 2003 UTPA Work-Study of the Year and received a $300 scholarship. First runner-up was Veronica Pineda, Rehabilitative Services, and second runner-up was Mirna Sandoval, Student Financial Services. More than 30 work-study students were nominated for the award. Also honored as the 2003 Work-Study Success Profile was Rolinda Park, director of Teacher Certification, University Office of Teacher Certification, and 2003 Work-Study Supervisor of the Year was Dora Cervantes, senior secretary, Information Resources. The luncheon was one of many activities held during Work-Study Appreciation Week, April 14-18.
