The premiere performance of "Paris Panam," a play compiled and performed by seniors and graduate students in the French Theater Class at The University of Texas-Pan Amercian, will be held May 4 in the Student Union Theater.
Entirely in French, the play is a collage of several theater pieces, poems and songs drawn from works of Feydeau, Molière, and Rostand among others.
Persons who do not speak French will still be able to enjoy the dances, songs and theatrical performances in a plot involving the exchange of cultural information between students from the Rio Grande Valley and host families in Paris.
"The goal of this highly entertaining event is to promote higher education and international culture in our region and familiarize the community with the level of proficiency students can obtain in the discipline of foreign languages," said Dr. Stella Behar, associate professor of French at UTPA.
Admission at the door is $2 for students and $4 for adults. Advance tickets are $1.50 each.
