The University of Texas-Pan American's Regional Biotech bioscience education program will conduct training sessions this summer for middle and high school science teachers.
This new program is designed to get youths involved and excited about the world of bioscience and technology. Funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health, Regional Biotech gives middle and high school students an opportunity to participate in hands-on laboratory experiments at The University of Texas-Pan American campus during regular fall and spring semesters.
Regional Biotech uses four laboratory teaching modules developed by scientists at Boston University School of Medicine. Experts in the field of bioscience at UTPA provide training to middle and high school science teachers on how to teach the relevant laboratory concepts in their own classrooms.
