The Bank of America Foundation recently donated $10,000 to The University of Texas-Pan American for scholarships, and the UTPA Office of the Vice President for Business Affairs will match the contribution.

Larry Zamponi, Bank of America president, recently presented a $10,000 contribution to the University toward scholarships for juniors and seniors. The Office of the Vice President for Business Affairs will match the contribution. From left are Jim Langabeer, vice president for Business Affairs; Zamponi; and Roland S. Arriola, vice president for External Affairs.

The money will be used to cover extra expenses for juniors and seniors in good academic standing and with financial need.

"The Bank of America Foundation emphasizes education, and UT Pan American is very pivotal in education in South Texas," said Bank of America President Larry Zamponi. "We felt it was an appropriate place to make such a presentation."

Zamponi presented the check to Jim Langabeer, vice president for Business Affairs, and Roland S. Arriola, vice president for External Affairs. Jill Pharr, senior vice president of the Bank of America Corporation, also was instrumental in securing the funds for the University.

Langabeer said the University's matching funds will come from a portion of money earned through the parking meters.

UTPA administrators said they are grateful for the contribution.

"We are very pleased that Jill Pharr from the Bank of America Corporate office participated in our U.S. Mexico Border Summit and helped to make this scholarship possible," said Arriola.
