The University of Texas-Pan American is asking all interested faculty and staff employees to participate in the eighth annual State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) from October 15-31.
By Friday, Oct. 18, SECC already had reached $10,000, or 40 percent of its $25,000 goal.
The SECC began in 1994 to provide state employees with the yearly opportunity to contribute to hundreds of charities across the Rio Grande Valley, the state and the United States. Employees have the option of making a one-time contribution by cash or check or monthly deductions for the entire year.
With the option of payroll deduction, employees have been provided the convenience to make voluntary, tax-deductible contributions to the charities of their choice. Contributions are made in small amounts from each paycheck for 12 months.
