Texas Governor Rick Perry

Governor Rick Perry calls the U.S.-Mexico Border Summit the most important gathering since the development of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

"This is probably the most expansive and substantial group of individuals brought together to talk about the Texas-Mexico and Mexico-U.S. relations since we were crafting NAFTA," he said.

"I'm very excited to be a part of this," he said, "and my goal and my hope is to continue improving relationships, working on the details of some very complex issues, at state, federal and the international level that will be good for Mexico, the U.S. and Texas, in particular."
