Jose Delgado, a mechanical engineering student at The University of Texas-Pan American, is a recipient of the prestigious Ford Motor Company/Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference Scholars Program.

Delgado is one of five students who will receive a $5,000 scholarship provided by the Ford Motor Company.

This new program is offered to qualifying students majoring in computer science, mechanical, electrical, industrial and aeronautical engineering. Candidates are selected on the basis of leadership, scholarship, and campus/community service.

These outstanding students will be honored at the HENAAC 2001 conference, Oct. 11-13 in El Paso. In addition, UTPA will send more than 100 engineering students to the conference, and the University, in partnership with South Padre Island, will host next year's event.
