Beginning in the summer of 2002, academically talented high school juniors and seniors from South Texas will have the opportunity to experience college life at The University of Texas-Pan American through the Concurrent Enrollment Summer Housing Program.

The program will provide students with an opportunity to acquire a full scholarship for room and board during the first summer session of each year.

The scholarship is an extension of the UTPA Concurrent Enrollment Program that provides high school students with the opportunity to earn college credit.

Through the scholarship, residence hall housing will be awarded to 20 students who qualify to participate in the UTPA Concurrent Enrollment Program. They also must reside more than 30 miles from the UTPA campus or document they do not have the reliable transportation to campus.

Students accepted into the Concurrent Enrollment Summer Housing Program will be required to enroll in at least two UTPA academic courses (minimum of six credit courses) per summer semester and participate in regularly scheduled events.
