The Pan American Summer Stock Theatre begins its 29th season this week with "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" by comedian Steve Martin.

Performances are Thursday, June 21 through Sunday, June 24 at the Communication Arts and Science Building. Show times are 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday.

Reserved seats are $10. General admission is $5 and available at the door an hour before performances.

UTPA faculty/staff and students receive two free admission tickets with each valid University identification card. Non-UTPA students may purchase $3 tickets, group and senior citizen discounts are available, and no children under third grade will be admitted.

PASS was initiated in the summer of 1973 when Doug Cummins directed "Star Spangled Girl" by Neil Simon in the 125-seat Studio Theatre in the Fine Arts Complex. The summer stock company idea grew out of a course called Summer Theatre Workshop, and the idea was to give students an intensive summer theatre immersion experience and provide Rio Grande Valley audiences with light summer entertainment.

Other PASS performances include "Check Out Chekhov" by Anton Chekhov June 28 to July 1, followed by "Once Upon a Wolf."
