Saturday was the perfect day for fun and games at The University of Texas-Pan American's annual Parent-Child Picnic.

About 300-400 students, faculty and staff attended the April 7 event, sponsored by The University Program Board, at the University Circle.

Students, faculty and staff and their families and friends enjoyed the recent annual parent-child picnic at the University Circle. The picnic was sponsored by the University Program Board.

"It allows the students and faculty to spend time with their kids here on campus," said Sara Sanchez, chair of Special Events for the University Program Board.

Parents and children were entertained with rides, music and free food.

James Dutremaine was among many faculty members who enjoyed the day with their families.

"It's a blast; we're having so much fun," said Christina Dutremaine, James' wife. "It's neat that they're doing something like this for families."

Angela Lopez, junior biology major, volunteered at the picnic and spent time with her 5-year old son, Gerardo.

"He was scared at first, but now he's having lots of fun," Lopez said.

Several student organizations, including UT CARES and the Pre-Medical/ Bio-Medical Society, helped with rides and organized games.
