A representative of the Texas Tomorrow Fund, a state-sponsored prepaid college tuition program, will discuss the endeavor April 10 at The University of Texas-Pan American.

The presentation is at 9 a.m. in the Student Union Theatre.

The Texas Tomorrow Fund secures a child's education without having to worry about inflation, rising college costs or other investment challenges.

Although Texas' tuition and required fees remain below the national average, in recent years, they have been increasing at a rate of about eight percent annually. That is more than twice the rate of increase in the average family's household income and considerably higher than the interest paid on a savings account, certificate of deposit or other insured investment.

Consequently, the Texas Tomorrow Fund allows parents or grandparents to lock in the cost of tomorrow's college tuition and fees at today's prices. A prepaid tuition contract can pay up to 160 credit hours of tuition and required fees at any public college or university or the estimated average private tuition and required fees for students at any private university.

Flexible payment options are available, along with several plans that pay for tuition and required general fees.

The deadline to apply for the fund in the current enrollment period is May 25.

Seating is limited, so reservations are requested by April 6. For more information or to register, contact Norma Campos of the Personnel Services Office at 956/316-7959 or by e-mail at
