$30,000 matching grant provided for Valley Scholars

With its most recent donation, The University of Texas-Pan American Foundation has matched a $30,000 challenge grant from the Valley Alliance of Mentors and Scholarships (VAMOS) to fund $60,000 in scholarships for students transferring from South Texas Community College.

The McAllen Medical Center Foundation has committed $15,000 annually to the UTPA-VAMOS Valley Scholars Program. Harold Siglar and John Schrock Sr., McAllen Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors, along with other donors will be on hand for the check presentation.

A news conference and check presentation will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4 in the International Trade and Technology Building.

Siglar, Schrock, scholarship recipients, other donors and representatives from UTPA, the UTPA Foundation, VAMOS and South Texas Community College will be present.
