The University of Texas-Pan American recently received an award for its safety program.

The Award of Honor was bestowed by The Campus Safety Health and Environmental Management Division of the National Safety Council for the University┬╣s entry in the Complete Environmental, Health and Safety Program.

The program pushes entrants to excel in designing and implementing their own safety programs and incorporate original and/or novel efforts while complying with standardized rules. It also seeks to give local and national recognition for safety efforts.

The award will be conferred at a July 18 luncheon at the International Conference on Campus Safety in Palo Alto, Calif.

The Campus Safety Health and Environmental Management Division is a professional resource for safety and health professionals at colleges and universities. The National Safety Council is a nonprofit, non-governmental, international membership organization promoting safety, health and environmental issues at work, home and in the community.
