EDINBURG - The University of Texas-Pan American Venus Support Group is once again offering female students emotional and psychological support through several small weekly support sessions beginning Monday, Sept. 20.

"One of our goals is to allow these students to learn from each other," said Mary Herrera, counselor for the UTPA Counseling/Advisement Center.

"Some students have been in therapy, while others are just beginning to confront their issues. Through this program, we are hoping to give students an opportunity to be able to vent their problems."

Each group, consisting of eight to 10 female students, will meet for an hour once a week to discuss and work through various women issues including anxiety, depression, sexuality, stress, parenting and eating disorders, among others.

The groups will meet in the Counseling/Advisement Center, Student Services Building in room 504 on Tuesdays at noon, Wednesdays at 4 p.m., Thursdays at noon and 3 p.m. The program is free of charge for students.
