EDINBURG - The University of Texas-Pan American Friends of the Library, in conjunction with the National Library Week Committee, is exhibiting the winners of a photo contest as well as holding its annual book sale April 11 - 17 in celebration of National Library Week.

Amateur photographers were encouraged to share their vision of libraries by entering the "Beyond Words: Celebrating America's Libraries" photo contest and help mark the Library of Congress bicentennial.

Winning entries are exhibited at the University Library lobby.

The UTPA Friends of the Library offered prizes of gift certificates from the University Bookstore. First place took $100, second place $75 and third place $50.

The University Library also is holding its annual book sale in the Library lobby, on the first floor.

The book sale is being held Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., and Friday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Prices are: hard cover books, 50 cents, paperback books, 25 cents; magazines, 10 cents; and videos, tapes and other media materials, 10 cents.

Friday, April 16, will be "bag day," when everyone can buy as much as they can put in a plastic grocery bag for $1.00. There is no limit to the number of bags' worth of material a person can buy on "bag day." Bags will be provided at the book sale.

The book sale is open to the public. All students, staff, faculty and Friends of the Library are welcome to attend.
