The University of Texas-Pan American is hosting a two-artist exhibit April 19-30 at the University Gallery, located on the first floor of the Communication Arts and Sciences Building.
The exhibit, titled "Lux Divina," will feature works by Aleida Garcia and Corinne Brown, bachelor of fine arts degree candidates at UTPA.
According to Valerie Garza, gallery director, Brown's work will exhibit mediums including graphic design, sculpture and manipulated photography.
"Corinne's work embodies graphics and symbolizes the exterior material world," Garza said.
Garcia's work will include raku ceramic figures, altars with silver sculpture and chain-mail dress.
"Aleida's work takes on strong messages of empowerment and bold colors," Garza said.
Both artists have participated in group shows throughout Texas and sold their works to private collectors. A reception for the artists will be held in the University Gallery from 7-10 p.m. Friday, April 16. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m.
Admission is free and guided tours are available. Please call Garza at 956/381-2655 for more information.
