The university galleries at The University of Texas-Pan American will host a variety of exhibits and activities during the Spring 1999 semester.
An exhibit of Capri Prints that are part of the Permanent University Collection will continue through March 3 in the University Gallery, located inside the Communication Arts and Sciences Building. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon, and Tuesday and Thursday, 1 to 3 p.m.
Art by surrealist artist and UT Brownsville faculty member Noel Palmenez will be shown in the Charles and Dorothy Clark Gallery in room 135 of the Fine Arts Building, across from the Fine Arts Auditorium, through March 5. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 to 10 a.m.; Monday, Wednesday and Friday, noon to 3 p.m.; and Tuesday and Thursday, noon to 4 p.m.
Continuing the activities is an exhibit by printmaker and painter Jack R. Lewis, chair of the art department at Georgia Southwestern State University, March 8 through April 15 in the University Gallery. The artist will give a lecture at 1 p.m. March 9 in room 228 of the Fine Arts Building.
"Mr. Lewis will be discussing his travels and studies in Mexico," said Valerie Innella, gallery director, adding that Lewis will describe how his experiences and travels are incorporated in his work.
