The University of Texas-Pan American's Office of Placement and Cooperative Education will host two career fairs in October.
The Engineering and Computer Science Career Day will take place Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Graduate and Professional School Fair will be Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Both fairs will be held in the University Ballroom.
"Both of these events were designed to give students more opportunities to become aware of their career options," said Enedelia P. Kidd, interim director of placement and cooperative education.
As part of the Engineering and Computer Science Career Day, the office will hold an orientation program in the morning for high school students while the Engineering Fair is in progress, Kidd said.
Companies that have already confirmed they will attend the Engineering and Computer Science Career Day are Dell Computer Corp., IBM, Johnson Controls Inc., Kimball Electronics Group, Lockheed Martin Space Mission Systems & Services, Mid-Coast Electric Supply Inc., Motorola Cellular Infrastructure Group, USAA, Wal-Mart Information Systems Division and Xerox Corp. Other companies are expected to have booths at the career fair.
A list of graduate and professional school representatives for the Graduate and Professional School Fair is still being finalized.
On Oct. 7, the Office of Placement and Cooperative Education will conduct a Job Interviewing Techniques Seminar from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the University Ballroom. Attendance is mandatory for all UT Pan American education majors expected to graduate in December.
