Guest artist Kurt Martinez is scheduled to perform a guitar concert at The University of Texas-Pan American Fine Arts Recital Hall at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Martinez's program will include J.S. Bach's "Partita #2," Manuel Ponce's "Preludio" and Federico Torroba's "Aires de la Mancha."
He also will perform Johann Mertz's "Hungarian Fantasy," Nikita Koshkin's "The Prince's Toys Suite," Isaac Albeniz's "Asturias" and Regino Sainz de la Maza's "Zapateado."
Martinez began studying music at UT Pan American and completed his bachelor of music degree at the University of Miami. He received his master of music degree from Georgia State University, where he was also a guitar teaching assistant.
He has received several awards in competitions throughout the Southeast and was selected to perform in master classes with guitarists such as Christopher Parkening, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, Ricardo Iznaola and Eduardo Fernandez.
Martinez's music has been heard on Public Radio broadcasts in the Greater Atlanta area.
