Dr. Anthony Picchioni, chair of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, will conduct a workshop on "Ethics, Law and Administrative Procedures for the Mental Health Professional" March 27 in Edinburg.
The workshop, sponsored by the University of Texas-Pan American Center for Continuing Education, will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UTPA Annex, 2412 S. Closner in Edinburg. Early registration by March 16 is $55, with the cost $65 thereafter. Included in the registration fee are instructional materials and a certificate of completion.
Picchioni, both a licensed professional counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist, is a past president of the Texas Mental Health Counselors Association and is a full-time faculty member at North Lake College in Dallas, where he also serves as director of the school's Conflict and Resolution Center.
Author of numerous books, he has published extensively in the social and counseling issues areas and is writer and host of a 15-part video series on contemporary counseling issues.
The UTPA-sponsored workshop will examine individual and overlapping relationships among professional ethical conduct, legal requirements and administrative procedures that all practicing mental health professionals should know.
Participants will use actual case studies and participate in a question and answer session during a panel discussion with Picchioni and John Luther, executive director of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.
