The Office of the Dean of Students at The University of Texas-Pan American and the Advocacy Resource Center for Housing will present a free Tenant Workshop from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4., in Room 307 of the University Center at UT Pan American.
Sandra Rosales, coordinator of student development, said she believes the topic will be of interest to students because so many of them live in off-campus apartments, but the public is also invited to attend.
The workshop will focus on the rights and responsibilities of both tenants and landlords. Topics to be covered will include eviction, repairs, property seizures, lockouts, security deposits and utility shutoffs.
The Advocacy Resource Center for Housing is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the legal housing rights of underrepresented, low-income tenants through public education, mediation and tenant advocacy.
