Dr. Su received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago in 2006. His research and teaching interests center on demography, sociology of health, immigration, and research methods. Part of his work in these fields has been published in Social Science and Medicine, American Journal of Human Biology, and Economics and Human Biology. He is now working with Dr. Chad Richardson as Principal Investigator on a three-year project aiming to address cross-border utilization of healthcare services by U.S. residents living in South Texas. The project is one of the four components under the 2007-2010 UTPA Health Services Research Initiative directed by Dr. José A. Pagán, which has been funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Su is also the Graduate Advisor for the Sociology Graduate Program at UTPA.
