The Nano Team at UTPA has an open position for a postdoctoral research associate to contribute to the development and understanding of nanoreinforced polymer composites for electromagnetic interference shielding attenuation and for electrorheological/photorheological analysis of nano laden suspensions. The successful candidate should be motivated and independent, and enjoy a stimulating multidisciplinary research environment. Manufacturing Engineering

Assistant Professor Faculty Position

The Department of Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position (F07/08-56) in Engineering Management pending budget approval.

Candidates must have Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related Engineering field. Candidates will be expected to teaching online courses in the Master of Science in Engineering Management program and undergraduate courses in Manufacturing Engineering, and to support the department’s research efforts in Rapid Response Engineering through scholarship and generating external funding.

UTPA is situated in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, a strategic location at the center of social and economic change. With a population of over one million, the Rio Grande Valley is one of the fastest growing regions in the country. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY

The Department of Chemistry at The University of Texas-Pan American invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position (F07/08-62) in Physical Chemistry beginning fall 2008.

A PhD in Physical Chemistry is required for this position; however, a degree in a related field such as Chemical Engineering or Material Science will be considered. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses and establishing an externally funded research program which will serve both undergraduate and graduate programs.

The department currently offers an ACS-certified undergraduate program and a Master’s degree program with a traditional research track as well as a track for school teachers.
