FY 07/08-35 DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – APPLIED LINGUISTICS

Required: PhD in Applied Linguistics or closely related field required by August 2008, demonstrated evidence of and potential for continuing scholarship in an applied area of linguistics and interest in program development. Graduate coursework in theoretical and applied areas of linguistics. Position begins in Fall 2008. Preferred: applied emphasis in second language acquisition theory and practice and/or theoretical emphasis in phonology, semantics/pragmatics or syntax as applied to linguistics courses; experience working with minority students, teaching ESL, developmental writing and/or reading; interest in distance learning, web-based and computer assisted instruction. FY 07/08-39 DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

LECTURER (2 POSITIONS)
Lecturer (2 positions). Minimum qualifications: MA in English and experience teaching at the university level. Preferred: PhD or ABD in English or Rhetoric and Composition and experience teaching composition and developmental writing to a diverse student body. The Department of English seeks candidates to teach a variety of composition and possibly some literature courses in our undergraduate, general education core curriculum. We are looking for instructors with an interest in and enthusiasm for creating innovative curricula and projects, and the successful candidate will have opportunities to contribute to the development of the first-year writing program. Position begins fall 2008.

FY 07/08-40 DEPARTMENT OF MODERN LANGUAGES AND LITERATURE

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – FRENCH

FRENCH, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, TENURE TRACK: Pending final approval of funding, the University of Texas – Pan American is seeking applications and nominations to fill an Assistant Professor position in an area or areas of French studies and/or applied linguistics for Fall 2008. The faculty member will teach courses and participate in the French Studies major and minor programs housed in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly achievement. The initial teaching load will be beginning, intermediate and advance courses in French, with the opportunity to develop new general education, upper division and graduate courses in the area of specialization. Candidates must possess a PhD in French, Comparative Literature or related field by August 2008.
