Employees at the University of Texas Pan American
pulled together and opened their hearts to those less fortunate during the
Annual State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC). The 2008 campaign ran
from October 1st through October 31st, 2008.
With the assistance of hard working and dedicated
departmental designees, this year’s goal of $25,000.00 was surpassed. The
UTPA community proved that “Together We Care” and pledged contributions
totaling $25,013.00. Contributions raised will help various charities at
the local, state, national and international level.
This year’s SECC was headed by Gilbert Perez Jr., HR
Associate and former 2004 SECC Coordinator. With the assistance of
colleague Mary Hodge, HR Training Specialist, more department level
informational meetings were held this year to help spread knowledge of SECC
as well as raise awareness on the significant impact that an individual’s
contribution can make.
UTPA really does pride in unity and building a bigger
and brighter future for its community. A big heart-felt THANK YOU goes out
to all those employees who contributed and helped make this year’s SECC a
