Dr. Martha Cano
Dr. Martha Cano Chief Resident, Corpus Christi Family Practice Residency Program

Dr. Martha Cano currently serves as chief resident at the Corpus Christi Family Practice Residency Program. Cano, who was born in Edinburg, Texas and spent her childhood in Edcouch-Elsa, Texas plans on opening her own practice with a fellow resident in July 2008.

She spent her school years in Harlingen, Texas and graduated from Harlingen High School in 1993.  She graduated cum laude from UTPA in December 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in biology, and a minor in chemistry. 

At UTPA, Cano was the recipient of the Wal-Mart Competitive Edge Scholarship and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.  In addition, she participated in the Stokes Alliance research grant as well as the UTMB Medical School Familiarization Program.

Cano started medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2001 and graduated in June 2005, and received the Ray Santos Scholarship while there.

She is married to Orlando Cano, also from Harlingen, and has a four-year-old son, Matthew.
