Saul Ortega, Chairman and CEO, First National Bank - Edinburg, Texas
Saul Ortega joined First National Bank as an Accounting Officer in April 1987. He then served as the bank's Controller until 1998 when he was promoted to Chief Financial Officer. In November 2011, Mr. Ortega was appointed the bank's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He also serves as a director on boards of the First National Bank and First National Bank Group, Inc.
With over 25 years of banking experience, Mr. Ortega provides overall direction and leadership to a $3 billion bank with 58 branches. He works closely with executive management to develop short and long-term goals and is actively involved in the preparation of the bank's annual budget.
Mr. Ortega is a native of the Rio Grande Valley, born in Weslaco, Texas. He was raised in a farm between La Villa and Mercedes, Texas, and graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School. Mr. Ortega has a B.B.A. in Accounting from The University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg. He is a director of the Edinburg Investment Company; Texas National Bank; MNB Ventures, Inc.; and owns JPO Enterprises, Inc. (50% ownership in car wash and real estate) and SOI, Inc. (real estate, oil and gas). Mr. Ortega resides in Edinburg, Texas, with his wife and 3 daughters.
