Dr. Gonzalez was born in McAllen, Texas and raised in Edinburg, Texas where she attended public school. She graduated from Edinburg High School in 1985 (7th out of 645).

Dr. Gonzalez was a MAGNA CUM LAUDE graduate of the University of Texas-Pan American in 1989 earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. She received her DOCTOR of MEDICINE Degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School in 1993. Her post graduate residency training was done at the Southwest Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Houston, where she graduated in 1996. She has been in private practice in Corpus Christi, Tx from 1996 to the present, specializing in Family Medicine.

• National Hispanic Scholar 1985-1989
• She received the NORMA CULMER AWARD for Outstanding Senior Resident 1995-1996 at Southwest Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program.
• Dr. Gonzalez was featured in the UT Alumni Magazine in 1996, "THE MAKING OF A UT DOCTOR" ( cover story).
• The Consumers' Research Council of America selected and recognized Dr. Gonzalez as AMERICA'S TOP FAMILY DOCTORS from 2002-2010.
• She served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science at San Antonio (affiliated with the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program, Corpus Christi, Tx) from 2004-2006.

Activities and Society Memberships include:

American Academy of Family Physicians; Texas Academy of Family Physicians; Texas Medical Association; Nueces County Medical Society; Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society (lifetime member); Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine; guest speaker at High Schools, Colleges, and Elementary Schools for Career Days.
