Gitty Daneshvari was born in Los Angeles to an Iranian father and an American mother. As a child she talked incessantly, feeling the need to comment on everything around her. While at first charmed by her verbose nature, her family soon tired of the constant commenting. This is how she found writing - it was better than talking since she didn't even need anyone else to do it with.
After graduating from UC Santa Cruz, she worked in Hollywood for years and was the Director of Development for Contrafilms, then moved to New York City in 2008 to become a full-time author. In the spring of 2009 her adult novel The Makedown was released, followed later that fall by the first School of Fear novel. The sequel, School of Fear: Class Is NOT Dismissed! came out in September 2010 and the third book will be out this fall.
