René Saldaña Jr. created the popular character of Mickey Rangel, a Latino Encyclopedia Brown, who solves mysteries in The Case of the Pen Gone Missing / El caso de la pluma perdida and the latest bilingual book in the series, The Lemon Tree Caper/ La intriga del limonero: Coleccion Mickey Rangel, detective privado, which he'll be talking about to students during Reading Rock Stars. He is also the author of A Good Long Way, The Whole Sky Full of Stars, The Jumping Tree, and Finding Our Way: Stories. Saldaña lives in Lubbock, where he teaches in the College of Education at Texas Tech University.
