General Information
  1. If you are not a US citizen or legal resident, you will need a student visa (F-3). The I-20 form will be provided to eligible students. The F-3 visa can only be issued at the American Consulate in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. The American Consulate in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon will not issue F-3 visas.
  2. Employees sponsored by companies should contact the ELI Office for deadlines.
  3. Registration, placement test and classes are held at the Lamar Building Rm. 1. (See address above)
    Office Hours: Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  4. Students should register no earlier than 30 days prior to first day of class.
  5. Admission Requirements: Must be 17 years or older and must have finished High School or the equivalent
  6. The department of Homeland Security requires all foreign students to pay a fee of $200.00 (US) either by mail or via the internet, and fill out a form I-901 before making an appointment at the American Consulate.
  7. Refunds will be given only before the starting date of the program. Refunds require 4-6 weeks to process. Only applicants who cannot be placed in existing levels will be given a full refund. $50.00 and any late fees are non-refundable.
  8. US Citizens and Legal Residents should bring a Birth Certificate, Permanent Resident Card or Employment Authorization Card.
