This service describes the available software for UTPA students, faculty, and staff.
For UTPA Computers: Authorized software available to be installed on UTPA owned computers is available by going to the Run Advertised Programs for Windows Computers. This includes software such as Microsoft Office, Bomgar Button (Remote Assistance), Secunia, SPSS Statistics, etc. Software not listed such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, and Adobe Acrobat must be ordered through the UTPA Purchasing software called “iShop”.
For personally-owned computers: Microsoft software is available to download free of charge for currently enrolled UTPA students. Faculty and Staff can download a copy of Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Office at $9.75 per title. Software is available for download for 31 days after the order is processed. Software can be accessed by going to my.utpa.edu and clicking on the Bronc Software icon under My Applications.
Desktop support is available Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
For UTPA computers running Microsoft Windows, the software is available through the Control Panel (Start Menu/Control Panel) by clicking the "Run Advertised Programs" icon located in the "Programs" category. For UTPA computers running Mac OS X, customer must contact the IT Help Desk at 956-665-2020 to request software installation. IT staff will try to install software via Remote Support whenever possible or make arrangements for an on-site visit.
