Telephone Services provides a wide range of voice services for UTPA. From simple dial tone and custom coverage paths, to a telephone bank and auto attendants. Typically the majority of our customers, (faculty and staff) utilize only the standard business-class telephone functions such as, hold, conference, transfer, and voicemail. Some of our customers operate telephone banks and require more complex business-class services, such as Automatic Call Distribution, (ACD) to evenly distribute high volume calls to a telephone bank staffed with people trained to answer basic support issues.
This service facilitates voice communication internal as well as external voice communication. The university community is able to quickly connect voice calls.
The UTPA telephone network is operational 24/7 unless impacted by natural disaster, or catastrophic hardware failure.
