Special Event Technical Support


Provides technical support for Audio/Visual related services at University-sponsored, non-classroom special-event functions on the UTPA campus. These functions can include workshops, guest lectures, conferences and special presentations. Technical support includes an analysis of event site, equipment requirements and setup/operational support.


Access to specialized equipment, assistance with setup and, in some instances the operation of technologies installed at the site ensures that special events on the UTPA campus are adequately supported with audio/visual technology. This support unit provides technology specialists and equipment to support events which require special technology needs. In some instances, specialized rental equipment may be required and will be the responsibility of the department sponsoring the event.

Hours of Availability

Special Event Technical Support is available during normal University business Hours 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday. However, in instances where events and conferences are held outside of normal business hours, necessary arrangements can be made with adequate lead-time and a fee for labor may be assessed.


This service can be requested by logging into myUTPA and clicking on the ServiceNow icon. The ServiceNow self-service page can be used to submit and track the status of all requests.​


Costs for this service are dependent on the availability of equipment (rental possibility) and operational support provided after hours. Rate is billable to departmental accounts via the IDT process @ $25/hr per technology specialist. Rental costs are the responsibility of the department requesting the equipment.
