External Requests to Track Down PC on Campus
Purpose
Describe the process for handling external (to UTPA) requests to track down network connected devices on the University of Texas – Pan American network.
Scope
Provide guidelines for the Network Services Department in handling external (to UTPA) requests for identification of PC's on the local area network as part of on-going investigations or otherwise.
Prerequisites
External request for assistance.
Coordination with the Information Security Office as requests are typically directed to them first.
Responsibilities
CISO and/or ISO.
Responsible for coordinating search and making specific requests to Network Services Department. Responsible for coordinating with Police Department.
Network Services Department staff.
Depending upon nature of request, appropriate Network Services Department staff will be assigned to research and provide information requested by Police Department (if found) through the Information Security Office.
Procedure
- External request for assistance in tracking down PC on the UTPA network.
- Direct external entity to submit official request to UTPA campus Police Department as no search will be conducted without an official campus PD request.
