Disable WLAN Client

Purpose

The purpose of this procedure is to describe the process for disabling a wireless client at the request of Information Security.

Scope

This is intended to provide a procedure that will result in disabling a wireless node on the UTPA wireless network.

Prerequisites

Network services will need a formal request from Information Security requesting a wireless node to be disabled. Information Security will also need to provide the IP address, MAC address or any other information needed to properly identify the wireless node.

Responsibilities

Network Services will be responsible for disabling wireless access. Network access throughout the wireless network will be disabled to the specific MAC address of the offending node. The offending node will not be reactivated without a follow-up request from Information Security.

Procedure

  1. Receive request from Information Security.
  2. Identify wireless node on UTPA wireless network.
  3. Disable wireless access to wireless node throughout UTPA wireless network.
